Ligule an inconspicuous membranous arc bearing a fringe of short white hairs, more prominent on collar. Leaf sheath clasping basally but open near nodes, not overlapping, dull green with slight tinting basally, conspicuously pubescent with same hair types as previous described, deeply canaliculate. Inflorescence an open panicle, rotund-ovate in outline, about 23 x 18 cm, borne on long, slender peduncle, spathe lacking. Main axis rigid and sturdy but terminally delicate and sinuous. Secondary axis ascending, alternately arranged, occasionally whorled, up to 20 cm long. Racemes 25 cm long. Spikelets paired (1 often reduced), minutely ellipsoid, about 2 x 1-1.5 mm.
