Status: Native
Shrub or small slender tree to 15 m. Leaves with 3-5 pairs of oblong-elliptic leaflets and a terminal leaflet, densely covered in golden hairs when young, woolly below. Flowers in branched, terminal panicles, showy, golden yellow with reddish stripes on the lower corolla lobes. Fruit a long slender capsule, somewhat flattened, densely covered in golden hairs.
Derivation of specific name: obtusifolia: with obtuse leaves
Habitat: In open woodland.
Flowering time:Nov - Jun
Worldwide distribution: From Angola and Namibia eastwards and from the DRC and Kenya southwards to South Africa, including Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Growth form(s): Tree, shrub over 2 m.
