Description:
Perennial woody climber, usually flowering when entirely leafless. Leaves in fascicles on new shoots, heart-shaped, up to c. 8 × 5 cm, hairless or more or less pubescent. Flowers in dense clusters on the older shoots, funnel-shaped white to pale mauve-pink, dark purple-pink in the centre. Capsule ovoid, hairless, tipped by the persistent style.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: shirambensis: of Shiramba in the Lower Zambezi valley, Mozambique, where the type was collected.
Habitat: In sandy soils in dry deciduous woodland and bush.
Flowering time:Aug - Oct
Worldwide distribution: Botswana, Caprivi - Namibia, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and northern South Africa.
