Description:
Erect annual herb. Stems up to 1 m long, simple or branched, sparsely set with short yellowish-brown, swollen-based bristles. Leaves heteromorphic. Lower leaves up to 5 cm long, elliptic, un lobed and shortly petiolate; other leaves sessile, lanceolate, up to 15 cm long, with 1-4 blunt, shallow lobes in the lower half of the lamina lobed in the lower half; lobes often with a sissile gland at the top. Flowers 1-4 per raceme on slender peduncles up to 9 cm long, lengthening up to 20 cm in fruit. Petals 15-20 mm long, pale yellow to orange, rarely white. Capsule 4-7 cm long, narrowly linear, beaked, hairless, held at right angles or deflexed to the peduncle.
