Description:
Deciduous shrub or small tree; branches often pubescent with short glandular hairs and small scattered bristles when young. Leaves obovate or elliptic,often widely so, 3-8 cm long, sometimes longer, pubescent with glandular hairs, often more densely so beneath, sometimes only on the midrib and veins, domatia usually absent from the vein axils; margin entire or coarsely dentate in the apical part; petiole up to 2 cm long, glandular pubescent. Inflorescences mostly in terminal heads, 3-7 cm long, up to 30-flowered. Corolla blue to mauve, rarely white or purple, 5-lobed. Fruit fleshy, 5-7mm long, usually glandular-pubescent, orange when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: obtusifolia: with obtuse leaves
Habitat: In woodlands, thickets, on granite hills and often on termite mounds.

Worldwide distribution: From Ethiopia to South Africa,Angola and Namibia.
