Description: | Slender annual herb, 8-40 cm high. Stems square, hairless or sparsely hairy. Leaves opposite, seesile or very shortly petiolate, elliptic-lanceolate, 0.8-3.2 cm long, somewhat rough above, hairless beneath or ciliate on the midrid; margin entire sometimes rolled under. Flowers in few-flowered terminal heads, small, white, pink or pale mauve. Capsule c. 2 mm wide, unusually shaped, cordate and bilobed at the baseand an apical obtuse beak c. 1 mm long, densely roughly pubescent. | |
