Description of the genus

Trees or shrubs. Leaves 1-pinnate; leaflets alternate or subopposite. Inflorescence a terminal panicle. Calyx 5-toothed; upper 2 fused for most of their length. Standard palmately veined. Filaments free from base. Style incurved, hooked at apex. Fruit flat, winged along upper or both margins, indehiscent. Seeds reddish.

Worldwide: 4 species, mostly tropical Africa

Caprivi: 1 cultivated taxon.
