Description of the genus

Rhizome short- or long-creeping, rather thick, densely hairy; roots numerous and robust. Fronds spaced; lamina 2–5-pinnatifid, venation anadromous, false veinlets absent. Sori tubular to campanulate, lips sometimes dilated; receptacle exserted.

Worldwide: Throughout the tropics, also in northern temperate regions.

Caprivi: 1 cultivated taxon.
