Description of the genus

Herb. Leaves proximally opposite, distally alternate, linear. Capitula terminal, solitary, heterogamous and radiate; receptacle flat to conical; phyllaries 1–2-seriate. Ray florets 1-seriate, female; disc florets numerous, hermaphrodite, proximally cylindric, more distally campanulate and with 5 teeth. Fruit achenes ellipsoid, slightly compressed, smooth and glabrous but for slightly ribbed margins; pappus absent or a minute annular rim.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa.

Caprivi: 1 cultivated taxon.
