Anisophyllea R. Br. ex Sabine

Description of the genus

Evergreen trees or suffrutices, young parts pilose, later glabrous, readily identified by the alternate leaves with usually 2 conspicuous lateral nerves on either side of the midrib (“palmately veined”). Flowers small, sessile, usually bisexual; ovary inferior. Fruit a 1-seeded drupe.

Worldwide: C.30 species; tropics, c. 14 in Africa.

Caprivi: 1 cultivated taxon.
