LASIOCORYS Benth.
Annual or perennial herbs or subshrubs. Inflorescence of few-many-flowered, often subspherical, whorls;
bracts leaf-like; bracteoles linear, ascending. Calyx tubular, 10-nerved, straight or curved, with 5-10 equal or unequal
spine-tipped teeth. Corolla 2-lipped, white; upper lip usually entire and hairy; lower lip 3-lobed, the middle lobe longest. Stamens 4. Worldwide: 150 species from Africa and Arabia to Indomalesia Caprivi: 7 cultivated taxa. |
