Description of the genus

Shrub, scrambler or liana with white latex. Leaves simple, opposite, sometimes falling early. Inflorescence terminal, few to many flowered. Corolla tube saucer-shaped, sometimes with dark coloured glandular centre and hairy white spots. Follicles paired, sometimes horizontally divergent.

Worldwide: 12 species in Africa, Europe and Asia. One species in the F.Z. area.

Caprivi: 1 cultivated taxon.
