Description:
Erect perennial herb, up to 1 m, growing from a taproot. Stems 1 to several. Leaves alternate, up to 8 cm, linear to lanceolate. The whole plant variously covered in short hairs, grey-green. Inflorescence spike-like, leafy. Flowers clustered in upper leaf axils, white, pale blue or purplish.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: napiformis: turnip-like, referring to the shape of the root
Habitat: In woodland and grassland, in old cultivation and along roadsides.
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: Angola,DRC, Congo, CAR, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.
