Description:
Perennial herb with decumbent or prostrate stems, up to 75 cm. Leaves 4-foliolate, leaflets linear or narrowly elliptic, pubescent and gland-dotted beneath. Inflorescence terminal, flowers yellow with red veining on the standard, each flower clasped between large green leaf-like bracts with hairy margins. Pods in 4-7 constricted segments, covered in spiny bristles.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: milneana: named after the British botanist, Mr Edgar Milne-Redhead.
Habitat: In sandy soils in various types of woodland and grassland, sometimes in old cultivation.
Flowering time:Nov - Apr
Worldwide distribution: Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia Zimbabwe and Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-natal, South Africa.
