Description of the genus

Annuals. Leaves alternate, subsessile, glandular-punctate. Capitula homogamous, small, numerous. Inflorescence ± corymbose. Receptacle naked. Florets numerous, purple, mauve, pink or whitish. Achenes strongly ribbed; apex truncate bearing an initially cup-shaped but later dome-shaped appendage. Pappus 0.

Worldwide: 19 species in tropical Africa and Indomalesia
