| Description: | Annual or biennial climber up to 4 m high with an unpleasant smell; most parts densely covered with spreading hairs and capitate glands; tendrils axillary, up to 10 cm long. Leaves 3-5-lobed, up to 11 × 11 cm, cordate at the base; margin entire or irregularly toothed and ciliate; petiole up to 6 cm long; stipules divided into filiform gland-tipped lobes. Flowers solitary, axillary, white, pink, purple or lilac, 2-5 cm in diameter, peduncles up to 6 cm long.Bracts subtending the flowers, 2-4-pinnatifid with filiform gland-tipped segments. Fruit subglobose, 1.5-3 cm in diameter, yellow to red, enveloped in the persistent bracts. | |
