Common names:
Description: Perennial herb to 1 m tall. Stem sometimes with small buds bearing orbicular leaves at the base, glabrous to pubescent with antrorse or spreading hairs. Leaves sessile or shortly petiolate; lamina linear to narrowly elliptic. Upper leaves subtending heads 5-25 mm long, caudate or apiculate with an ovate, orbicular or obcordate broad basal portion, white or bluish with a green apex, often inrolled, sometimes reflexed. Heads 5-20 mm long, arranged in lax or dense corymbs. Corolla 4-6 mm long, white, pink, blue or purple.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: caeruleum: term used for various shades of blue, e.g. sky-blue or dark blue
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: From Senegal to the Central African Republic, Congo, Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
